Living lactose free can be difficult enough for most individuals, now imagine what living lactose free for busy artists must be like.
Artists are often busy working, promoting, and traveling which makes keeping up a decent, traditional, diet nearly impossible.
This problem is compounded when many of the quickest food products available can not be consumed because of lactose intolerance.
Many artists have occasionally taken on the “what’s the worst that can happen” attitude and completely ignored their dietary
restrictions. That has usually done far more physical harm than good.
Lactose intolerance means that consuming products that contain milk or milk protein lead to nausea, vomiting, and other illnesses which can
severely disrupt the life of a busy artist. So, even though many busy artists might be tempted to cut corners this can lead to more time
being wasted and an illness that could have been avoided by sticking to a diet.

not as difficult these days as it used to be. With many people seeking to live lactose free as a matter of choice rather than health
manufactures and store owners have taken to stocking a variety of lactose free products.
Many of these products are easy to re-warm, or are snack foods which can be eaten on the go. Many fortified breakfast bar products are
available that are lactose free along with lactose free soy milk and cheeses.
In addition to stores offering lactose free foods that can be eaten when on the go, many restaurants are expanding their menus. Quite a
few states boast restaurants that offer a strictly vegetarian or vegan menu.
These restaurants will have many items that do not contain any milk protein products. Also, tradition restaurants also offer vegetarian
selections on their menus that are lactose intolerance friendly.
One of the major health concerns of busy artists is that the lack of calcium and other vitamins that are found in milk products will cause
deficiency, eventually, illness. Most artists cannot afford to be out of commission for any amount of time so they are going to be very
careful when it comes to their health.
The same artists that avoid foods that can aggravate their condition are also going to make sure that their lack of the nutrition found in
these foods does not affect their life.
Many dairy substitutes that are currently on the market are calcium and vitamin fortified. An alternative to drinking a glass of milk
each day is to drink a glass of fortified orange juice. Several vegan products that are available in most major grocery stores and many
specialty food stores are vitamin fortified and are often very tasty.
Also, do not discount the supplement. Most stores, especially health food stores, now sell vitamins for reasonable prices.
Purchasing some calcium supplements is never a bad idea, especially when you have reason to believe that you will not be able to maintain a
healthy diet to counteract any negative affects your lack of milk products might cause.
